The Xiaomi Motion Sensor 2S is a smart motion sensor that detects people and pets moving at home and triggers automations in the Xiaomi Home (Mi Home) app – for example turning the lights on when someone enters and off when they leave, switching off appliances, or sending an intrusion alert. Motion detection reaches up to 7 m, and a high-sensitivity mode detects micro movements such as waving within 3 m. It also measures ambient illuminance from 0 to 1000 lux, so lights can switch on only when it is dark. The detection interval can be set to 10, 20 or 30 seconds. A Bluetooth Low Energy chip gives an estimated battery life of up to 3 years on one CR2450 battery (purchased separately). Linking with other smart devices requires a Bluetooth gateway such as Xiaomi Smart Home Hub 2.
